This Byway is great for Biking

Florida Black Bear Scenic Byway is home to a remarkable array of scenery specializing in lush forests, abundant bodies of water, and breathtaking scenery resulting in some truly great motorcycle and bicycle rides. The Byway also offers lively cities and towns with rich histories and colorful amenities that draw visitors year round.

Mountain Biking:

Paisley Woods Bicycle Trail – This 22-Mile Loop is truly a beautiful sight. Marked with yellow diamonds, it intermittently intersects the hiking-only orange-blazed Florida Trail. Blue-blazed connector trails connect the loop with both the Alexander Springs and Clearwater Lake trailheads. This trail is frequented and maintained by the Ocala Mountain Bike Associate (OMBA). This trail is the only major destination for mountain bikers along the byway.

Paisley Woods Bicycle Trailheads:

  • Alexander Springs – Park at the Recreation Area. Trailhead is across the street from the entrance.
  • Clearwater Lake Trailhead

Astor to Flagler Beach – Out and back for 80 miles

A1A Scenic Byway – Flagler Beach Loop 34.3 miles

Silver Springs – Scenic ride through the Ocala National Forest 40.58 mile loop

Carney Island – Riding through some scenic country 35 mile loop

Barberville/Pierson 17.6 – 17.64 mi

Silver Springs to Palatka – 48.88 mi
