East Side Three-Day Tour

East Side Three-Day Tour

This tour is great if you’re heading onto the byway from the eastern corridor. This tour will not keep you from seeing a good portion of the byway so don’t feel like you’re going to be confined to only the east side of the byway.

Day 1

  • Morning Pontoon Boat Ride on the St. Johns River in Astor (recommendation: Capt. Ernie).
  • Have lunch nearby in Astor or Volusia (recommend: Blackwater Inn, William’s Landing or Castaways).
  • Visit one of the Springs: Juniper Springs (SR 40) or Alexander Springs (CR 445).
  • Fern Hammock Trail at Juniper Springs or the Boils Trail at Silver Glenn Springs.

  • Canoeing: Juniper Creek Run (4 hours) – from Juniper Springs; a 7-mile run along a narrow, crystal-clear creek
  • Or Alexander Springs Run (3 hours) – Alexander Springs Recreation Area; a 5 mile run along a wide open creek.
  • Have lunch nearby in Silver Springs and grab a Whoopie Pie at Sweet Jane’s Candy Shop.
